Supporting Our Community

January 9, 2026

Knowles Logistics continues to play an active role in supporting the communities in which it operates, reinforcing a long-standing commitment that has been central to the business for more than 90 years.

As one of the region’s largest employers, Knowles believes that strong community relationships are built through consistent, practical support, whether that’s helping local schools, improving shared spaces, or supporting events that bring people together.

Education remains a key focus of Knowles’ community activity. Colleagues regularly work with local schools to promote awareness of the logistics sector and the wide range of career opportunities it offers. Recently, members of the Knowles team attended a careers fair at Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech, where they spoke with students about the variety of roles available within logistics and the different pathways into the industry.

Knowles also supports schools in more practical ways. At Peckover Primary School near the company’s Wimblington site, a request for pallets to support outdoor learning activities was quickly answered. The pallets were donated, delivered and positioned by Knowles colleague Ian Roberts, helping to create new opportunities for hands-on learning and play.

At Thomas Eaton Primary Academy, Knowles has contributed to improving safety around the school by funding brightly coloured roadside “kiddie cut-outs”. Designed to encourage responsible driving and parking, the signs act as a visible reminder for motorists to take extra care near the school. The company has also sponsored pupils’ sports kits for inter-school events, helping to foster pride, teamwork and confidence among students.

Beyond education, Knowles colleagues regularly give their time to support local environmental and community projects. Earlier this year, a team from the Salters Leverington Road site took part in a litter-picking initiative around the Harecroft Road sports fields. Led by Operations Manager Gavin Slater and supported by the National Trust and Fenland District Council’s Street Pride scheme, colleagues volunteered during their lunch breaks to help improve the area for residents and visitors.

Knowles is also proud to support community events that bring local people together. Each year, the company plays a role in the Wimblington Christmas lights switch-on, a much-loved event in the village calendar. Colleagues have supported the event by loaning equipment, including a trailer used for live radio broadcasts and performances, helping to ensure the evening runs smoothly and remains accessible for everyone attending.

These initiatives demonstrate Knowles Logistics’ ongoing commitment to responsible business practices and meaningful community engagement. By supporting local organisations, schools and events, the company continues to strengthen the communities in which it operates, in line with the values that have guided the business for more than 90 years.
